What makes Britain 'Great'?

With what special genius, what incredible insights, were our forefathers imbued when in 1707 they created the Union, and forged out of a group of rain-swept islands off the European Continent, a nation that came so profoundly to change the world? How could they have known that politically, militarily, economically and culturally we would be so much stronger united, so much more than the sum of our parts?

As we near the end of the first decade of the 21st century, what defines us, what makes Britain great for you, for us? Whether in art, music, design, fashion, entertainment, science, industry or technology, Britain has the artists, designers, stars, talent, scientists and companies that lead the world today and the people to make it great and continue that global leadership into the future.

It's time to throw aside our national hypochondria and to celebrate our people and achievements, then look forward to what the future holds for us all as Great Britain.

The British Inspiration Awards want to celebrate Britain the country, to develop a positive spirit and foster a community where difference and diversity are looked upon as an asset and where curiosity and a desire to engage are the first response to difference. It's a chance for business and individuals to thank all of the people past and present who have made Britain their home, added to our rich culture and given us the opportunities we all enjoy.

Queen Boudica

Boudica exhorted her troops from her chariot, her daughters beside her. Tacitus gives her a short speech in which she presents herself not as an aristocrat avenging her lost wealth, but as an ordinary person, avenging her lost freedom, her battered body, and the abused chastity of her daughters. Their cause was just, and the deities were on their side; the one legion that had dared to face them had been destroyed. Perhaps as to taunt the men in her ranks, it is said that she asked them to consider: "Win the battle or perish: that is what I, a woman will do; you men can live on in slavery if that's what you want."

The Boudica

In recognition of an individual, company or groups contribution to the Creative Economy of Great Britain and the Inspiration that they give to others they will be awarded a Boudica. A forward looking woman who inspired others around her.

The Boudica logo with its four shades represents England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland moving forward together as one.

Charity

Importantly, we believe that this is also an opportunity for creative industries to support charity. The proceeds from the event will be donated to our charitable partners. You can find out more about the work of the The Dallaglio Foundation and Games Aid by clicking on the Charities page.
