    Nick Park CBE English filmmaker of stop motion animation

    With four Oscars, five BAFTA awards and a host of other titles, Nick Park is a national treasure. Since his first production in 1989, he has become best known for his use of stop motion animation, and his work is known worldwide. His hugely popular creations include Shaun the Sheep, Chicken Run, the Creature Comfort animals and the ubiquitous Wallace and Gromit.

    Elisabeth Murdoch Business executive in the British television industry

    Elisabeth Murdoch is the Chairman and CEO of Shine Limited, and founded the company in 2001. With offices in London and Manchester, Shine Limited is a supplier of franchise television to broadcasters internationally, and includes programming on BBC, Channel 4, HBO and the RTL Group.

    Sir George Martin English record producer, arranger, composer and musician

    Famed for his work on all but one of The Beatles' albums, Sir George Henry Martin, CBE, is a record producer, arranger, composer and musician. Considered one of the greatest record producers of all time, he was appointed a Knight Bachelor in 1996 for his service to the music industry and popular culture.

    With work spanning four decades, and arguably one of the greatest discographies of all time, he has 30 number one singles and 16 number one albums in the UK. He also has 23 number one singles and 19 number one albums in North America under his belt, as well as six Grammy awards and two BRIT awards.

    Alexander McQueen CBE British fashion designer

    Known for his unconventional designs and shock tactics, the late Lee Alexander McQueen, CBE, worked as the head designer at Givenchy before founding the Alexander McQueen and McQ labels. He was named International Designer of the Year by the Council of Fashion Designers in 2003, and was a four-time winner of the British Designer of the Year award.

    His designs have been worn by celebrities such as Björk, Lady Gaga and Rihanna, and following his tragic passing in February this year, Gucci will continue the Alexander McQueen business.

    Matthew Bourne OBE British contempary and dance choreographer

    Matthew Bourne, OBE, is widely hailed as the UK's most popular and successful Choreographer and Director. Creator of the world's longest running ballet production, the five-time Olivier Award winner is the only British director to have won the Best Direction of a Musical Company and Best Choreography titles. He has launched many critically acclaimed productions, including Without Words and Mary Poppins, which won Olivier Awards for Best Entertainment and Choreography and Best Theatre Choreographer, respectively. He is also responsible for the Box Office record breaking Edward Scissorhands, and Nutcracker!; which became the first ballet to be screened by BBC1 in over 20 years

    Sir Terence Conran English designer, restaurateur, retailer and writer

    Sir Terence Orby Conran, FCSD, is a designer, restaurateur, retailer and writer. He opened the first Habitat shop in 1964, and by the mid-1980s had expanded Habitat into the Storehouse plc group of companies that included Mothercare and Heals.

    His architecture and interior design career has seen him redesign and regenerate buildings including London's Michelin House, the Bluebird Garage and the Shad Thames area next to Tower Bridge that includes the Design Museum. He has also created various London restaurants, and was knighted in 1983.

    Sir James Dyson English industrial designer

    A household name around the world, Sir James Dyson has revolutionised the vacuum cleaner business. Awarded the Prince Phillip Designers Prize in 1997, he is the inventor of the Dual Cyclone bagless vacuum cleaner.

    He received critical acclaim in 2003 for his creation 'The Wrong Garden', a water feature that appeared to flow up a hill, which was displayed at the Chelsea Flower Show. In 2005 he was elected as a Fellow at The Royal Academy of Engineering, and was appointed a Knight Bachelor in December 2006.

    Baroness Susan Adele Greenfield British scientist, writer, broadcaster, and member of the House of Lords

    A professor of Synaptic Pharmacology at Lincoln College, Oxford specialising in the physiology of the brain, the right honourable Baroness Greenfield's research and work has brought new insight into Parkinson's and Alzheimer's disease. She is also a writer, broadcaster and member of the House of Lords.

    She has received numerous awards, including the Royal Society's Faraday Prize, the French Légion d'honneur in 2003 and the CBE in 2000 for her contribution to the public understanding of science. In June 2001 she was created a life peer of Ot Moor, and was installed as Chancellor of Herriot-Watt University in Edinburgh in February 2006.

    Ian Livingstone English fantasy author and entrepreneur

    Ian Livingstone, OBE, co-founded Games Workshop in 1975, and is the co-author of The Warlock of Firetop Mountain the first Fighting Fantasy gamebook, which spawned a worldwide publishing phenomenon.

    In 2002 he won the Gift of the Academy at the BAFTA Interactive Entertainment Awards for his outstanding contribution to the gaming community, and was awarded an OBE for Services to the Computer Game Industry in the New Year's Honours List 2006. He is also the Life President of Square-Enix Europe, having started his career in the video game industry with Domark in the 1980s.

    Michael Eavis CBE English dairy farmer and the founder of the Glastonbury Festival

    One of Time magazine's top 100 most influential people in the world, Michael Eavis, CBE, is the founder of the world famous Glastonbury Festival. He has used the profits from the festival to support charitable causes, including local projects. He was awarded a CBE in the Queen's 2007 Birthday Honours list.
